Premier Mountain Insurance Now Authorized to Offer Colorado FAIR Plan Policies

Littleton, CO — May 18, 2025 — Premier Mountain Insurance is proud to announce that it is now officially authorized to sell policies under the newly launched Colorado FAIR Plan, a state-backed insurance program designed to provide essential property coverage to homeowners and businesses who are unable to obtain insurance through traditional markets.

The Colorado Fair Access to Insurance Requirements (FAIR) Plan, established under HB23-1288 and launched in early 2025, was created to address the growing insurance gap in high-risk areas across the state—particularly those prone to wildfires and other natural disasters. This program ensures that all Coloradans, regardless of location or risk profile, have access to basic property insurance coverage when standard insurers decline to offer policies.

As an authorized agency, Premier Mountain Insurance is now equipped to help clients navigate the FAIR Plan application process and secure coverage for properties that may otherwise go uninsured. This includes residential and commercial properties that have been rejected by at least three standard insurance carriers.

“We’re excited to be part of this critical initiative,” said Mike Schmisek, President at Premier Mountain Insurance. “The FAIR Plan is a vital safety net for many Colorado property owners, and we’re committed to helping our clients protect what matters most—even in the most challenging circumstances.”

The Colorado FAIR Plan offers the most basic type of home insurance policies available, which includes an actual cash value coverage settlement (not replacement cost) and is considered a last-resort option due to its higher premiums and limited coverage scope. However, for those in wildfire-prone or otherwise high-risk areas, it may be the only viable solution.
